How are technicians vetted or screened?
Independent Providers using the platform must satisfy network eligibility standards, including identity verification and comprehensive criminal background screening prior to accepting job requests. See the Terms of Service.
Customers
Where do you service?
Nationwide, coast to coast across the United States.
Who do I pay? Are there ServiceBookr fees?
ServiceBookr securely facilitates payment processing on behalf of independent providers upon work completion, or providers may invoice clients directly using their own merchant processing.
How do I cancel?
Providers manage their own schedules. Notify us before the end of the prior business day to cancel free. If canceled after an independent provider has confirmed your visit, a standard late cancellation or travel fee may apply.
Is there a Fuel surcharge?
Independent providers manage their own travel expenses. Any applicable travel fees or surcharges are itemized upfront prior to provider confirmation.
What should I have ready?
Power, chargers, relevant account access, and a backup of critical files when possible. Data loss risk is never zero - back up first when you can.
Providers
Your status
What is ServiceBookr?
A marketplace connecting customers who need computer repair and IT services with independent service providers who decide for themselves whether to take each job.
Am I an employee?
No. You are an independent contractor, not an employee of ServiceBookr.
Is this a wage job?
No. You receive opportunities to make a profit (or loss), not wages. There is no hourly wage floor and no minimum volume.
Who controls how the jobs are performed?
You control how the work gets done - tools, methods, and sequencing - so long as you meet lawful and contractual obligations. We do not supervise your day-to-day technique.
Your schedule and jobs
Do I build my own profile?
Yes. You create and maintain your own provider profile.
Do I have to take a job?
No. You choose whether to accept each opportunity.
What happens if I decline?
Nothing punitive. You are free to reject opportunities; there is no penalty for declining job opportunties.
Do I set my own hours?
Yes. You control your schedule within ServiceBookr - when you are available and which windows you accept.
Can I talk to the customer directly?
Yes. Direct customer communication is allowed.
Why do I sign an agreement every week?
Engagement is week-to-week. You sign an Indepedent Contractor Agreement (ICA) for each week you want to accept job opportunities.
Your money and taxes
Do you withhold taxes?
No. You are responsible for your own taxes.
What tax form will I get?
A 1099-NEC when required by law.
Who pays my expenses?
You do. Business expenses, tools, and transport are yours.
Can I negotiate price / sell my own services?
Yes, including using your own merchant account where applicable, and selling your own services outside the platform subject to the non-solicitation rules below.
Your business
Do you provide equipment?
No. You supply your own equipment.
Do I need my own car/tools?
Yes - computer, phone, vehicle, and tools as needed for the work.
Can I work for other platforms?
Yes. The relationship is non-exclusive.
Is this exclusive?
No. You may work outside ServiceBookr.
Can I find my own customers? Can I solicit customers?
You may solicit the public freely and obtain customers independently outside ServiceBookr. You may not poach customers who came to you through the platform - the Independent Contractor Agreement’s non-solicitation terms restrict directly soliciting active clients for six months after leaving the ServiceBookr platform.
Can I hire helpers or subs?
Yes. You may hire employees, subcontractors or third-parties for your own business, subject to the ICA, identidy verification and background checks.
Screening
Is there a background check?
ServiceBookr requires a background check before you can accept jobs; you will be asked to authorize screening when you apply.
Do you re-run checks (including on my subs)?
Yes, you may be asked to authorize re-verification from time to time.
